Is Ringette only for girls?

No. Boys and girls both enjoy Ringette. Its a fast paced, team game that everyone can participate in.
Many players continue playing as adults and form lifelong friendships.

When do you practice?

R4U (7yrs and under) practice Monday evenings from 4:30-5:30.
All others practice Monday and Wednesday evenings starting around 6pm for an hour. The exact timing changes every year.
Practice ice may be shared with other teams depending on how many teams we form and how much ice time we are allotted. It will vary from year to year.

How do games work?

We play in 2 leagues, Eastman (ERL) and Winnipeg (WRL). We can play anywhere from 15 to 20 games a season, depending on what other teams are active.
Games are mostly on the weekends and will start in mid October. Playoff for ERL are on the Family Day long weekend in February and WRL start shortly after that.

Do I need to know how to skate to sign up for Ringette?

NO!! Players pick up skating very fast and within a couple of weeks they are flying across the ice with the rest of the team. By the end f the season they are a Pro!

What kind of equipment do I need?

Most of the equipment is similar to Hockey, with a few key differences. The girdle and ringette pants are unique and the stick is special as well (no you can't use a cut off hockey stick, LOL!).
Helmet cages are also different to stop the sticks from going through the holes. To find a detailed list of equipment see the Player Resources tab on our website.

Is financial support available?

Yes, Kids Sport and Jump Start will offer subsidies for low income families.
See our Player Resource page for more information.

Does Ringette Have Provincial Playoffs?

Yes, the top 4 teams from each loop will have the opportunity to participate. The deadline for teams to confirm participation is at the end of December. Information will be sent to managers and coaches on this process. Additional information can be found on the Ringette Manitoba Website.
